Many local realtors are available to assist in obtaining housing in the area, be it purchasing or renting. Building contractors are available to construct new homes in two new subdivisions located in Deshler.

Recreation

Deshler has many fine recreational facilities to offer. There are two recreational parks with shelter houses and playground equipment, a community swimming pool, tennis courts and three reservoirs for fishing. The Deshler Memorial Field has two fields for baseball and softball activities. The Deshler Men’s Association also has a lighted basketball court at their facilities. For youth we have:

Religion

Deshler offers a variety of opportunities for Christian worship, education, and service. There are many different denominations including Lutheran, United Methodist, Catholic, Presbyterian, Church of the Brethren, and Baptist. The Deshler Council of Churches works together on ecumenical projects including community worship services and community vacation Bible school. Area congregations have reached beyond their own walls to provide social service ministry to all age groups.

Community Organizations and Services

Many civic organizations contribute to the good of the community, both through the cooperative efforts of their members and through financial donations. Some local clubs and organizations are the Lions Club, American Legion, Chamber of Commerce, Bartlow Township Historical Society, Deshler Men’s Association, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Genealogical Society, Bavarian Club, Garden Club, Art League, Aladdin Club, Eastern Stars, Mason, 4-H, and a Senior Citizens Organization.

Education

The Patrick Henry School District was established in 1964 and consists of 145 square miles in the southern part of Henry county with portions of the district located in western Wood County and northern Putnam County. They provide a high-quality academic environment for their 900+ students. The district completed a building project in 2016 that enabled the entire school district to be at one campus. The district comprises an Elementary (Gr. PS-4), a Middle School (Gr. 5-8) and a High School (Gr. 9-12).

The Vocational Agriculture Department repeatedly advances to state levels at the Ohio State Fair and the music department as well as the science department participates and competes at the state level.

The Athletic Department is a member of the Northwest Ohio Athletic League, the oldest conference in the state of Ohio. Patrick Henry offers a full range of athletic and extra-curricular programs that develop the full range of students’ interest and ability.

The PTO, the Parent Music Association, the Athletic Boosters, the Patrick Henry Theater League, and the Academic Boosters all provide much support to the school system.

Within commuting distance there are two community colleges, three private colleges, two state universities and a parochial school.

Deshler has a variety of retail businesses to offer as well as being able to meet the demand for professional services.
